Privacy Policy
What we collect, why, and what we do with it. We collect very little, and this site was made with AI: both are said plainly below.
1. Who we are
Halfsecond is a web design studio. This website, and the work we do for our clients, is run by [Legal entity name] ([ABN or company number]), [Registered address].
In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Halfsecond. It covers this website, and what we do with personal information when you write to us, subscribe to our news, or work with us.
For anything about your personal information, write to [email protected].
2. This site was made with AI
Halfsecond is a web design studio that uses artificial intelligence in its work. This website is itself made with it. Said plainly:
- What was made with AI. The images and the film on this site are generated or assisted by generative AI models. The code was written with an AI coding assistant. Parts of the text, including the articles in Insights, were drafted with AI.
- Who answers for it. People at Halfsecond direct the work, choose what is kept, edit it and publish it. Everything on this site is published under our name and our responsibility.
- What is not real. The people, places, products and brands in AI-generated imagery are not real individuals or real clients, unless we say so. The demo sites in the Collection are concepts we designed ourselves.
- What AI does not do here. This site has no chatbot, no profiling and no automated decision about visitors. Nothing you type into a form on this site is sent to an AI system.
- Your material. We don’t put your confidential material or your personal information into AI tools that keep it or train on it.
We try to meet the transparency rules for AI-generated content, such as Article 50 of the EU AI Act, and to work by Australia’s AI Ethics Principles: human oversight, accountability, transparency, privacy and fairness. If something here looks wrong or misleading to you, tell us at [email protected] and we will look at it.
3. What we collect, and why
- When you write to us. The contact form asks for your name, your email and, if you want, a message. If you email us, we have what is in your email. We use it to answer you, to understand your project and to quote it.
- When you subscribe. The form in the footer asks for your name and email. We use them to send you our news, and for nothing else. Every email carries a link to unsubscribe.
- When you work with us. We hold what we need to do the work and run the account: your name and company, your contact and billing details, the brief, your brand assets and content and, when you give us access, the accounts and keys that go with your site. We use them to deliver the work, to invoice you and to meet our legal obligations.
- When you visit this site. It uses no cookies, no analytics and no advertising tools, and it loads nothing from other companies: its fonts, images and scripts are served by the site itself. Our host, [hosting provider], may keep standard server logs (IP address, page requested, date and time) to keep the site running and secure.
We collect personal information because you ask us to do something, or because it is needed to run a studio and to serve our clients. Where the law asks for a legal basis, it is one of these: your request, our contract with you, our legitimate interest in running the studio, or your consent for the newsletter.
5. Where it goes
Some of those providers are in other countries. When that is so, we choose providers that protect personal information to a standard comparable to the one that applies to us and, for transfers out of the European Union or the United Kingdom, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
6. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not become a project: [12 months] after our last exchange.
- The newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
- Clients: as long as the work needs it, then as long as accounting and tax law require ([7 years] for financial records).
After that we delete it or make it anonymous.
7. Keeping it safe
We keep personal information in reputable services with access control, and give access only to the people who need it. If a breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and the regulator, as the law requires.
8. Your rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it and, where the law gives you the right, receive it in a portable format or withdraw your consent at any time.
Write to [email protected]. We will answer within [30 days]. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the regulator: in Australia, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au); in the European Union, your national data-protection authority.
9. Children
This site is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
10. Links to other sites
Links to other sites, social networks for example, lead to places with their own policies. We are not responsible for them.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we change the date at the top. If the change matters to you, for example a new use of your information, we will tell you before it applies.
12. Contact
[Legal entity name], [Registered address]. [email protected].
