Terms of Service
How this site may be used, and how we work with you. Fixed quotes, plain words, and AI said plainly.
1. Who we are, and what these terms cover
Halfsecond is a web design studio run by [Legal entity name] ([ABN or company number]), [Registered address]. “We” and “us” mean Halfsecond; “you” means the person or the business using this site or working with us.
These terms cover your use of this website, and our proposals and quotes. When we sign a project agreement with you, that agreement comes first where it says something different.
2. This site was made with AI
This website is made with the help of artificial intelligence: its images and film, its code and parts of its text. People at Halfsecond direct it, edit it and publish it, and answer for it. The details are in section 2 of our Privacy Policy.
3. Using this site
You may browse this site and share its pages. Please do not attack it, overload it, or pass our work off as yours.
The design, the words, the imagery and the code of this site belong to Halfsecond or to the people who license them to us. You may quote short parts with credit and a link.
The site and what it shows are provided as they are. The demos in the Collection are concepts we designed ourselves. “Available” is an invitation, not a reservation: a demo is yours only once you have accepted a quote and we have confirmed it in writing.
4. What we do
- Custom websites. Designed from zero for your brand: story, structure, motion, words and build.
- The collection. A one-off site from our gallery, adapted to your brand: colour, words, content.
- Alongside, when the project needs it. Brand identity, product design, and the words themselves.
- The partnership. After launch, monthly: the site kept fast, kept visible on Google, kept current.
What applies to you is what your quote says.
5. Quotes and scope
Every quote is fixed before we start. We do not charge day rates and we do not send surprise invoices.
A quote says what we will make, what you will receive, when, and for how much. It is valid for [30 days]. Work outside it is quoted before it is done.
The dates in a quote assume that you give us your content and your answers on time. If that slips, the dates move with it.
6. Payment
Invoices are payable within [14 days]. We may ask for a deposit of [percentage] before work starts, and for payments at milestones on larger projects, as the quote says.
Prices do not include [GST or VAT] unless the quote says so. Domains, hosting, licences and stock are paid by you directly, or billed at cost and shown in the quote.
If an invoice is late, we may pause the work until it is paid.
7. The collection
Each site in the collection is designed once, on our own brief, sold once, then retired. Once it is claimed, it is gone: nobody else gets that site from us.
To claim one, you accept a quote and we confirm it in writing. We then adapt it to your brand (colour, words, content) within the time the quote gives, and withdraw it from the collection.
8. Your part
You give us the content, the access and the decisions we need, when we need them, and one person who can say yes.
You make sure that you have the right to use what you give us: text, images, logos, music, fonts.
The legal pages of your own site, such as its privacy policy and its terms, are your responsibility. We can write drafts for you; they are not legal advice.
9. Ownership and hand-over
Once you have paid in full, you own the site we made for you: its design, its words and its code. The domain, the accounts and the keys are yours from the start.
Everything is handed over documented, so that any competent developer can pick up where we left off.
We keep our own tools, components and know-how, whatever came before your project or is not specific to it. You get the right to use them as part of your site.
Fonts, libraries and stock stay under their own licences, which we list in the hand-over notes.
We may show the work in our portfolio, unless you tell us before launch that we may not.
10. Work made with AI
We use AI tools in our work, and we say so. For you, that means:
- We review everything. People at Halfsecond choose, edit and approve what AI produces. Nothing goes into your site unseen.
- Your material stays yours. We don’t put your confidential material or your personal information into AI tools that keep it or train on it.
- We tell you. On request, we tell you which parts of your project were AI-generated or AI-assisted.
- Copyright is not certain. In many countries, material generated purely by AI is not protected by copyright, or only in part. We cannot promise you exclusive rights over elements that are purely AI-generated. If that matters, a logo for example, tell us before we start: we will make it with human authorship.
- You can say no. If you do not want AI used on your project, tell us in writing. We will tell you what that changes, in time and in price, before we start.
- No borrowed work, no borrowed faces. We do not knowingly use AI output that copies someone’s work or shows a real person without their agreement, and we replace anything found to do so.
11. The partnership
After launch, from [AU$XXX] a month, we keep the site fast, visible on Google and current as your business moves. It runs month to month, and you can end it with [30 days] notice.
It is chosen; it is not a lock-in. Everything stays yours either way.
12. No promise of results
No honest studio guarantees revenue, because too much of it happens off the page. We build sites that earn trust at a glance and load without excuses. We do not promise traffic, rankings, leads or sales.
13. Our responsibility
We work with reasonable care and skill. For [30 days] after launch, we fix defects in what we built at no charge.
To the extent the law allows, our liability for a project is limited to the fees you paid us for it in the [12 months] before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect loss, such as lost profit or lost data.
Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have under consumer law, or a liability that the law does not let us limit.
14. Confidentiality
We keep what you tell us confidential, and use it only for your project.
15. Ending a project
Either of us may end a project if the other seriously breaks these terms and does not put it right within [14 days] of being told. You pay for the work done up to that point; we hand over what has been made once it is paid.
16. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of [state or country], and its courts decide any dispute. We would rather talk first: write to [email protected].
17. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. The date at the top says when. A change does not alter a quote you have already accepted.
